is what apartment hunting would be like if Google were in charge of the information-gathering part. It’s just a shame they don’t have many properties listed on there yet. I found my new place the old way - by driving around the neighborhood. Still, if I were moving someplace new, I’d probably start at hotpads.com just because the user interface is so cool.
I’m entering a new phase, in more ways than one. Unfortunately, one of those ways means the end of Xanga for me.
Sorry, Xanga. It’s not you, it’s me.
I actually still like a lot of things about blogging here, and I’ll still be reading my subscription emails. The reason for my exit is rather mundane: I no longer have internet service at home, and Xanga is blocked at work, so my access here will be severely limited. I guess that means it’s time for a change!
So, friends, please consider accepting change gracefully and signing up for the RSS at my new internet home.

| ListeningLast year, Lake Pointe was a satellite location for the Willow Creek Leadership Summit. I had no idea what I was in for (<---and that sentence was pretty much the theme for my first year working at Lake Pointe) when the conference was played live via satellite in the auditorium.
At that time, I couldn't help but hear and see everything in the auditorium from my little office space, so I was hoping that the conference would be easy to ignore.
It wasn't.
That was the best part about it.
While it's aim is to teach people with the spiritual gift of leadership, people who are not overflowing with manifestations of that gift can learn how to recognize good leadership, and so be a better follower, or supporter. I'm still chewing on things I overheard last year.
Lake Pointe is hosting it again this year, on August 7th and 8th. If you've ever considered going, you should definitely go. If you have never considered going, you should consider it.
You should really consider it. Really.

I do have one announcement: My band will be playing at Poor David's Pub on July 24th. That's a lot closer to the general area of most of my friends than any of our past gigs have been, so, all of you closet country/southern rock fans (Margaret I am looking at you!) should definitely come out and have some fun at that one!
